Brief Introduction
Sugilite comes from the name of the geologist, Ken-ichi Sugi. He discovered it in 1944 in Iwagi Islet, Japan. It can only be mined out of the deep manganese mines in South Africa, where almost all pieces on the market come out from. It's a very rare stone, that not many people know much about.
